Welcome to the future. Together with our clients at Massachusetts Institute of Technology Procon participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, developed as the first-of-its-kind Exchange Agreement between the General Services Administration and MIT.
Procon provided MIT construction management services for this $750M new facility which was part of a redevelopment project between MIT and GSA. The new facility at Kendall Square just outside of MIT’s campus was 10 years in the making and designed with the future in mind.
Not only will this be the home for the Department of Transportation to build the future of modern transit and develop a sustainable transit infrastructure, but the building itself is moving us into the future. The LEED Platinum building is expected to reduce emissions by over 50 percent from a typical building through the use of triple-paned glass, heat recovery chillers, EV charging, rainwater reclamation, a green roof, and dozens of other innovations all aimed at increased sustainability.
We are honored to be part of such an impactful project. It’s such a good feeling to see it come to fruition.
